UV Photography (UVL)

Ultraviolet-induced visible luminescence photography (UVL) is a technique in which it is recorded the fluorescence generated by the interaction of UV radiation and the material present in an object.

As each compound can emit its own fluorescence in this interaction, an image obtained by UVL can reveal information not previously observed with the naked eye, such as differences in the materials present, previous conservation-restoration interventions, varnish surface distribution, biological attacks, etc.

This is an excellent, and almost indispensable, source of information for conservation and restoration professionals, who, in possession of this information, can choose the best conservation and intervention procedures.
